"TREMENDOUS ACHIEVEMENT....BUT"

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: The total number of 1,226 members in 43 Lions Clubs in Tanzania and Uganda as at the end of April was a "tremendous achievement " by all Lions in Sub District 411B. However, the story took a little twist as at the end of May 31 when ten Lion Members slipped out of the "Exit Door".

The total number now stands at 1,216 and this number according to the GMT Leader, Past Governor Lion Abdul Majid Khan has to be improved by all means by bringing in Quality Members before 20th of June this year.

Governor Khan urged seriously  in his monthly email to all the Zone and Region Chairpersons to encourage club leaders to bring in at least 34 new members to reach the target of 1,250 to improve the district's status to a full-fledged sub district. He advised, in simple words, to tell the club leaders to "close the exit door".

More info: International Director Alexis V. Gomes who was twice Chief Guest at Lions' functions in Dar es Salaam and Kisumu, has repeatedly urged the districts to concentrate the main work of increasing Lion Members from the present figure of 24,000 to 30,000. This number will enable Africa to have its own constitutional area in the LCI. He cautioned over haphazard choice of new members and emphasized to target High Quality Members.

As at end of April, the Lion "gurus" at the helm felt that there was a tremendous achievement and that everyone could see and feel rays of hope attaining 100% results of a full fledged sub district by 20th of June. One of the main, and priority operational work among the District Governor's Goals was to increase at least four new clubs in Tanzania and Uganda and membership to go beyond 1,250. Uganda managed to open two new clubs while Tanzania managed to open a Leo club only.
