TEACHERS UNDER TRAINING

DAR ES SALAAM: District Governor Lion Wilson Ndesanjo paid glorious tribute to dedicated school teachers and described them as naturally gifted with high moral standard to conduct the Lions Quest Programme.

These remarks were made by Governor Willy when he was invited to act as Chief Guest at the 12th Lions Quest Workshop for school teachers in Dar es Salaam on 15th August 2013 at the Red Onion Hall, Haidari Plaza, Dar es Salaam. Thirty school teachers and twelve Lion Members, including Project Coordinator  Lion PDG Abdul Majid Khan attended the opening session.

The Governor said that teachers were naturally gifted to shape up the positive image and strong positive character of the school students. The good character building meant a strong foundation for the future citizen and leaders of the country. Hence, the mission of the Lions Quest Programme was basically geared to educate the young people to keep away from adopting bad habits such as tobacco smoking, smoking bhang, keep away from harmful drugs and all kinds of intoxicants.

The Lions Quest Programme is an international programme being conducted since the last thirty years and in Tanzania and Uganda, it was introduced about five years ago. Similar workshops are being conducted in Uganda as well, the last one was conducted a few days ago.

The Governor highly praised the Steering Committee under the chairmanship of Lion Abdul Majid Khan and Convenor Lion Mohamed Mulla and Secretary Lion Abdul Hai for organizing the programme in Dar es Salaam. The two Zone Chairpersons Lion M. Bakari and Lion Dr. Hussain Hassan and some District Officers were also present during the opening session.

During the prelude to the speech of the Governor, Lion PDG Abdul Majid Khan said that twelve such workshops were conducted successfully in Dar es Salaam, Morogoro, Dodoma, Moshi, Arusha, Mwanza and three more will be held in Lake Zone towns next week.

Six Lions and 360 school teachers have been trained so far and 180,000 students will benefit from the programme, according to PDG Lion Khan.

One of the major goals of District Governor Willy Ndesanjo is "caring for the community needs" and he has expounded well his attention on Lions Quest Programme in Tanzania and Uganda.
