THE FATAL ROAD ACCIDENT

A TRAGICAL AND FATAL ROAD ACCIDENT

Twenty nine year old Douglas Bbosa Nyonyintono, Past Governor Joseph Kiwanuka’s son in law, hardly had any hints that he was going to meet with a fatal road accident after just one week of his first wedding anniversary. It was just too sudden, shocking,  unimaginative to the family and a tragedy incident for all those who knew this charming young man.

News of his death on 29th August (Wedding Day 22nd August) travelled like wild fire every  where in Uganda and in the world of Lionism in East Africa. Condolence messages to the Kiwanuka’s Family, congregation of family members, relatives and friends were part of the tragedy  incidence.

He died instantly when his saloon car had a head-on collision with a speeding Toyota  Starlet which was coming from Kampala. Both the drivers died instantly at a location called Biharwe on Kampala-Mbarara highway, according to confirmed reliable information.

The Late Douglas was travelling along with his Mom and two farm workers. One of the workers died later with serious injuries. Despite several multiple injuries including fracture of  hip bone, leg and arms she was given immediate first aid assistance at Mbarara Mayanja Memorial Hospital. She was later rushed to Kampala for further medical/surgical procedures. Reliable information say that she was improving after intensive care.

Late Douglas’ body was badly mangled in the wrecked motor vehicle  and had to be forcefully removed from the wreckage.

Late Douglas was married to Edna, daughter of  PDG Joseph Kiwanuka and sister to Lion Valeria Mwesigwa (Past Cabinet Sec) on 22nd August 2014.

During the fateful Saturday (29th Aug) exactly a week after his first wedding anniversary, he was driving from Bushenyi where he was working under the National Water & Sewerage Corporation as a Procurement Officer for Greater Bushenyi. Eight branches were under his jurisdiction, a heavy responsibility  which he is said to have managed well.

Late Douglas leaves behind a widow (Edna) and a six months old baby boy. May Almighty God rest his soul in Eternal Peace…Amen.

The Kiwanukas and Late Douglas’ family members wish to thank all members of Lions who have sent condolence messages and helped during the burial ceremonies. They also wish to thank the Police of Uganda, doctors and nurses and volunteers who were prompt in giving a helping hand whenever and wherever  it was required.
