THE NEW MULTIPLE COUNCIL CHAIRMAN

GOVERNOR BECOMES MULTIPLE COUNCIL CHAIRMAN

The Insurance Man Lion Wilson Nathaniel Ndesanjo who was District Governor for Sub District 411B (Tanzania-Uganda)  has been promoted to the highest level in Multiple District 411 as Multiple Council Chairman.  The district comprises six countries, namely Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Seychelles and South Sudan, added recently.

The Council of Governors which met early May during the annual multiple district convention in Dar es Salaam , unanimously decided in favour of Lion “Willy” as the next Multiple Council Chairman for the Lionistic Year 2015/2016. During the past year, he worked as Secretary to the Multiple Council under the MCC Lion Teja Kalsi.

This post which is a pinnacle status in the six-country multiple district, traditionally rotates between the two sub districts namely Sub District “A” (Kenya, Ethiopia, Seychelles) and Sub District 411 “B” (Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan).  Hence, to keep the scale well balanced, the post of the Council Secretary also rotates and in this case the PDG Davinder S. Earie ( 411A) will take up the post of Secretary.

Not so long ago, just to refresh the memory of our readers, Lion Teja S. Kalsi accompanied by spouse  Gursharan ;  and Lion Wilson N. Ndesanjo accompanied by spouse Florense  were together in Germany where they were installed as District Governors along with 750 other Governors Elect at that time.

As usual, although the new MCC Lion “Willy” is a soft-spoken person but his charismatic attitude as a professional insurance man and as a LION, intends to bring some changes in the multiple district, particularly in his area of authority. Six new posts of District Officers will be created to head major projects such as for conventions, diabetics, eye sight, centennial celebrations etc. These posts will be handled by Past District Governors.

The Centennial Celebrations which will be a mammoth celebration to mark the 100th year since the creation of Lions Clubs International in 1917. The  LCI is one of the oldest organization and is rated as the largest service organization in the world. It is well recognized by the United Nations and almost all the Lions Clubs numbering 46,622  observe  a Day With United Nations.

For general information, the top leaders of the Multiple District have already left for  Honolulu, Hawaii to attend the International Annual Convention. The convention will be held from June 26 to 30.

And again for general information of the Lions and other readers anxious to know about Lionism, as at end of May this year, LCI had 1,396,932 members in 46,622 clubs and 755 districts in 210 countries and geographic areas. There were 371,707 Melvin Jones Fellow recipients and 71,450 Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow recipients.

FREE MEDICAL TREATMENT!

“SEE & SMILE PROJECT”
"If you ask a patient to pay TShs. 60,000/= for an eye surgery, he will prefer not to be treated and continue to suffer," so says the President of Lions Club of Moshi Kibo. This statement may be true to many people who cannot afford to pay for the high medical or surgical fees. Hence the free for all "SEE & SMILE PROJECT".

A team of doctors from Belgium will work alongside with doctors of Mawenzi Hospital of Moshi for treatment  of people suffering from dental,  throat  problems and  eyes check-up in three districts of Kilimanjaro Region.

The ten-days of free medical and surgical treatments is nick-named “ See & Smile Project”, an NGO from Belgium in coordination with the Lions Club of Moshi Kibo.  Mawenzi Hospital in Moshi will work hand in hand with the visiting doctors from Belgium. Similar camps will also be held in Hai and Siha districts  hospitals where it is said that due to weather conditions, there were many cases of eyes ailments.

This is a second project of eye-sight check-up and treatments after the one held in Rombo district where 270 people were provided free treatment and 22 others with complicated problems were operated by the doctors. This project as well was under the auspices of the Lions Club of Moshi Kibo, one of the most active Lions club in East Africa.

The project will take-off from Monday 29th June  and end on 8th July, the President of the club, Lion Inderjit S. Rehal told the MCC Blog.
