| Dr Manoj Shah Past International Director and GMT Leader has shown serious concern on the tempo of increasing membership in Multiple District 411. |
Serious
and appropriate urgent actions has been prescribed by Past International
Director Lion Dr. Manoj Shah for increasing Quality Members and new Lions Clubs
in Multiple District 411. Dr. Manoj Shah, an international personality in the
world of Lionism based in Nairobi, Kenya, is also holding the post of head of
the Global Membership Team for Africa.
All
members of the GMT, Area Leaders and advisors and including Lions clubs in
Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and Seychelles have been strongly urged to
consider the situation of increasing the membership of the organization in
Africa. He described his advice as “serious and urgent appropriate actions”.
The
seriousness of the decreasing number of members was also echoed by
International Coordinator Dr. Ton Soeters (PID) in his letter addressed to GMT
Leaders and Governors.
Respective
leaders and Club Officers, especially those clubs in jeopardy have been
strongly urged to make every effort to maintain those clubs in good standing.
As at end of July this year, some clubs mentioned in the Lions Clubs Health
Report might be cancelled for various reasons and this will lead to possible
loss of (minus or plus) 2000 members.
According
to laid down procedures, clubs cancelled within 12 months can be reinstated if
financial commitments are honoured well in time.
Another
GMT leader in District 411B (Tanzania-Uganda), PDG/PMCC Lion Abdul Majid Khan
has been constantly circulating clubs health reports to all the forty clubs in
the two countries voicing his serious observation of the situation. He said in
his latest circular: “To loose or waste an opportunity will result in grief and
sorrow,” he told club leaders adding, “why should this happen?”
He
called on the club leaders to re-activate cancelled clubs and save the sub
district from the serious dilemma and see to it that no further clubs are
closed. At the moment there are 40 clubs with 1081 members in the two
countries.
One of
the main goals of the District Governor of Sub District 411B Lion Wilson
Ndesanjo is a minimum requirement of
five new Quality Members per club
and to open four new clubs in Tanzania and Uganda this Lionistic Year.
