DAR ES SALAAM: Two Zones in Dar es Salaam conducted their meetings and gave their brief reports to the Governor's Blog with a sincere intention to say "thank you" to all the participants. Zone A was conducted by Lion Omari Bakari and Zone B by Lion Dr. Hussain Hassan.
There are seven clubs in Dar es Salaam and with the addition of Morogoro Lions Club, the final total turned out to be eight clubs. Morogoro was added under the umbrella of ZC Dr. Hussain and he reported participation of two delegates from the up-country town.
The Zonal Meetings also better described as the Governor's Advisory Committee meeting will further take their reports to the Region Chairperson (in this case RC Lion Happiness Nkya) for onward presentation of the reports in the forthcoming First Cabinet Meeting to be held in Kampala on 7th September 2013.
Both the meetings were held with PST Training seminar conducted by District Officer Lion Zahira Pattwa. The main objective was to brush up members knowledge about Lionism and leadership responsibility.

PDG/PMCC UNDER MEDICAL TREATMENT

PDG SAFDERALI JAFFER UNDER MEDICAL TREATMENT
The ever-smiling and polite nature senior Lion, Safderali Jaffer is in the United States of America undergoing medical treatment with every possibility for a kidney transplant anytime. From his hospital bed, the PDG/PMCC veteran Lion has sent greetings to all the Lions in East Africa and has requested for prayers for his early recovery.
He is undergoing dialysis twice a week, a medical treatment which requires filtering of his blood through membrane to remove waste products from his system. His name is already on the surgical list for a procedure of kidney transplant. It has been reported that his kidneys are functioning at only 20% and hence he may undergo operation any time.
PDG Safderali Jaffer, now in his mid sixties has been receiving medical treatment in the United States of America whenever his medical condition required him to travel abroad from Tanzania. He has been in direct communication with his close friend, Cabinet Treasurer of District 411B, Lion Mohamed Lalji.
The Lionistic greetings and his brief health condition was conveyed by Lion Mohamed Lalji to the Governor's Blog today from Dar es Salaam.
Lion Safder's wife, Lady Mumtaz and their two sons Mustafa and Murtaza and daughter are in the United States close him. Lion Jaffer's aged mother is also close to him.
There has been a steady influx of "get well soon" messages and email letters by Lions who have received the breaking news. On behalf of the Governor's Blog, the IT & Bulletin team and all the Lions wish to pray for the speedy recovery of our versatile veteran Lion Safderali Jaffer, amin.

VALENTINE MEMBERS SERVE ORPHANS
MWANZA: The all-ladies Lions Club of Mwanza Valentine visited Kuleana Orphans Centre and spent the whole day serving the children with food and cold drinks.
The Secretary of the club, Lion Sheerin Liakkath said in her despatch to this Blog that the club distributed sugar, rice, clothes, stationary, cakes, biscuits, kitchen utensils to the residents of the centre.

LUNCH FOR CANCER PATIENTS
DAR ES SALAAM: Three hundred patients of Ocean Road Cancer Hospital, the largest cancer hospital in Tanzania, were served with afternoon meals by members of lions Club of Dar es Salaam Mzizima.
Twenty five members from the club and from other fraternity club of Dar es Salaam joined hands in serving the patients. Mzizima Club has recorded this service as a long-term project and they carry out this service on every first Friday of the month.
Street children who normally spent their morning or afternoon hours playing football on open fields, were served with refreshment and biscuits.
President of the club Lion Mustafa Kudrati along with other members, assisted one patient with cash donation Shs. 105,000/= for purchase of medicines.

COUNTDOWN BEGINS! ISAAME FORUM
KATHMANDU, NEPAL: The countdown for the ISAAME Forum to be held at Kathmandu, Nepal has begun and only three months are remaining. This forum will bring together Lions from India, South Asia, Africa and the Middle East countries from December 5th to 8th.
It is estimated by the organizers that at least two thousand delegates from the ISAAME area will converge at this mountainous capital city of Nepal. The city is rich with its ancient traditional culture and history.
The Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Lion Sanjay Khetan sent an international circular urging Lions to book their airline tickets and hotel accomodations well in advance to avoid last minute rush and booking. Kathmandu is normally frequented by large influx of tourists during the end of the year and hence hotel accomodation has to be taken care off well in advance.
Hotel accomodation rates and other details are readily available directly from the Organizing committee or more easily and quickly accessible through their website address http://isaameforum2013.org
Our District Governor Lion Willy Ndesanjo urged the Presidents and Secretaries of District 411B to discuss the ISAAME Forum as one of the agenda in their BOD and Business meetings during the month of September.

DAR ES SALAAM: Preparations for the colourful Governor's Banquet to be held in Dar es Salaam is in the pipeline under the organizing committee formed for this particular purpose.
Region Chairman Lion Happiness Nkya who is also the Chairman for the Organizing Committee has been conducting meetings to shape-up the banquet scheduled for 1st September 2013 at the Crystal Palace, New Africa Hotel, Dar es Salaam.
The banquet is in honour of District Governor Lion Wilson Ndesanjo and his spouse, the First Lady of the District 411B (Tanzania & Uganda). The ceremonial banquet is a traditional episode when a Governor returns from the installation ceremony at the Annual International Convention. Governor Willy Ndesanjo was among 753 Governors (Elect) who were installed in a grand ceremony at Hamburg, Germany recently.
All the Governors, after formal training and schooling in Hamburg, took up their heavy responsibility to spearhead more than 1,354,208 Lions Clubs in 753 districts in 207 countries and geographic areas.
According to the skeleton programme, the Governor will address the gathering of not less than 100 Lion Members and invited guests. On behalf of the Dar es Salaam based Lions Clubs (7), he will be honoured with a gift and the First Lady with fresh flower bouquet.
The Governor's Banquet could not be held immediately after his arrival on Tuesday 23rd July because of several reasons which include the Fasting month of Ramadhan, the First Lady was in the United Kingdom attending to some domestic issue and the Cabinet Secretary Lion Kishore Simzia and his spouse Lady Renuka Simzia who were on their overseas tour.
Governor Willy Ndesanjo and Lady Florense are currently on their first lap club visitation in Uganda and are expected back in Dar es Salaam on 24th August.
