COURSE TO SHAPE LIONS AS LEADERS

MOMBASA, KENYA: A three-days of intensive leadership seminar  which will shape Lions to command leadership positions will be held from 25th to 27th October in Nairobi, Kenya. This was disclosed by Co-ordinator of Regional Lions Leadership Institute (RLLI), PDG/PMCC Lion Murtaza Dungarwalla.

He said that this course will prepare participants (only bonafide Lion Members) to assume positions of leadership within their clubs, district level and the communities.  "Through this course, the lion will find out how much leadership development one will need and what a Lion Leader is able to do," the Global Leadership Team Co-ordinator of the multiple district 411 pointed out.

The multiple district 411 comprises Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and the Seychelles and the district is further administered into two sub districts namely 411B (Tanzania-Uganda) and 411A (Kenya, Ethiopia and the Seychelles. The course participants will be total 60 Lions drawn equally from the two districts and it has to be ensured that Lions in good standing for eight years or less will be considered. Further to that the applicants should not be past Presidents.

The seminar will be held at the Meridian Court Hotel, Nairobi from Friday 25th October to Sunday 27th October. The Lions Clubs Institute will foot the bill for accomodation and meals for two nights and workshop materials. After the intensive training those who will fully participate will qualify to attend the farewell lunch and will receive the Leadership Seminar Certificates.

In a nutshell, the seminar will discuss prepared papers on communications, conducting effective meetings, diversity, goal selling, Lions Clubs International Funds, member motivation and presentation skills.

District Governor Lion Wilson Ndesanjo has stated in his district goals for this Lionistic Year that there was a dire need to have strong and adequate leaders at all level of our worldwide organization. "I would passionately like to see that every Lion, be it at grass root level or long term, to attend to leadership seminars," the Governor said.

Governor Willy Ndesanjo pointed out that leadership seminars will help Lions to build up confidence and accept leadership positions when called upon to do so.

Those aspiring to apply for participation should immediately get in touch with their respective club Presidents, Zone Chairpersons or Region Chairpersons. The Institute's co-ordinator reserves the right to accept or reject applications with valid reasons.
