LIONS CABINET MEETING: KAMPALA

KAMPALA: The marathon chain of events of Lions clubs District 411B held in Kampala, Uganda on Saturday 7th September kept almost everybody busy for not less than fifteen hours at a stretch.

And as the famous English Saying goes: "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". Indeed, the day's hard work and the tiredness disappeared after a colourful banquet with a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.

The first event of the day was a leadership seminar opened by District Governor Lion Wilson N. Ndesanjo. A total of 56 Lions who included Cabinet and District Officers and high ranking officers from various clubs attended the session. Common remarks were that the seminar was very useful, both to the veteran lions and new leaders.

After a brief lunch break, the sixty or so Lions attended the lengthy First Cabinet Meeting under the direction of Governor Wilson Ndesanjo. The Cabinet and District Officers were officially installed, ready to conduct their duties assigned by the Governor for the Lionistic Year 2013/2014.

Reports from the Governor, Cabinet Secretary, Cabinet Treasurer, Zone  and Region Chairpersons were put in front of the delegates which went through with approval. The meeting went beyond the sunset time  when the Governor adjourned the meeting, giving just less than an hour for the delegate to pack-up and prepare for the next session....banquet!

Earlier, the Governors of Sub District 411B attended the Governor's Council meeting under the Chairmanship of Multiple Council Chairman Lion PDG Poly Karimari Ndyarugahi. The meeting was supposed to be chaired by PDG Lion Satish Sharma (Chairman of the council) but due to ill-health reasons, his flight booking from Arusha to Entebbe was cancelled.

The summary of the discussions held was conveyed to the Lions by PMCC/PDG Lion Hon. Shem Bageine who is also holding the post of Cabinet Minister for East African Community Affairs in the Government of Uganda. Other who attended the meeting were DG Lion Wilson Ndesanjo, PDG/PMCC Lion Abdul Majid Khan, IPDG Lion Joseph Kiwanuka, First VDG Lion Night Ndyarugahi.

Delegates from Tanzania returned to their respective stations on last Sunday but the District Governor and First Lady Florense Ndesanjo will continue with the second lap of club visitations programme. They will return to Dar es Salaam on Tuesday 17th September.
