"QUALITY PROJECT" by Lions Club of Moshi Kibo

Moshi, Tanzania: Acclaimed to be the best  Club in Tanzania this year, Lions Club of Moshi Kibo conducted yet another Quality Project to assist those suffering from short of hearing. It was a joint project with the United States based Starkey Foundation.

The three-day Ear-Camp conducted under the shadow of Africa's tallest free-standing-mountain, Kilimanjaro, attracted 637 people who had problems of hearing including medical cases. They were screened by the Ear Specialists and found 467 requiring attention and a majority were dispensed hearing aid equipments.

The club which has local and international twinning relations with Lions Clubs and some NGOs, is managing a special school for boys and girls who are disabled (short of hearing). The school is very well administered and according to results, it has scored almost a 100% passes in the pre-secondary school examinations.

More information: The three-day Ear-Camp was jointly financed by both the organization and according to the informational provided by an official of the club, Lion Inderjit S. Rehal, Starkey Foundation spent US$ 5,000:00 while his club spent TShs. 500,000/= for expenses involved in providing transport services, cold drinks, mineral water and food. 

The club's President Lion Julian Jones along with seven other active Lion members and representatives of Starkey Foundation worked as a team to conduct the camp. The Ear Camp has been ear-marked as a Long Term Project by the club and will be conducted twice every year.

Some more info: Lions Club of Moshi Kibo also donated TShs. 150,000/= to two sisters (orphans) who are students of Mama Anna Mkapa Secondary School. The club has been supporting the students since 2011.
