KAMPALA: The current Multiple Council Chairperson of Multiple District 411,  Lion Polly Karimari Ndyarugahi has sent his sympathy and offered prayers for quick recovery of the 2^nd Vice District Governor Lion Hayderali Gangji who is currently under medical observation and treatment in a Mumbai hospital in India.

The MCC who was out of the country for some time now said that he felt sorry to learn about the ill-health of the Governor. He said: “I join all the well-wishers and wish him quick recovery. May the Good God bless him with a quick recovery. I am very sorry to learn about the poor health of Hayderali.”

Chain of “good luck and  sympathy” messages have been steadily coming into the mail boxes of the Governor Wilson Ndesanjo, and 2^nd VDG Lion Gangji and also to this Governor’s Blog. Prayers have been held in Dar es Salaam and elsewhere. 

According to reliable sources and also through those who spoke directly to him or his wife, Lion Nimeira, several laboratory tests have been carried out but the Blog has not yet received any confirmed medical reports.

RAP IN KAMPALA

Kampala: The Reading Action Programme (RAP) was implemented at the Salvation Army in Kampala for the benefit of disabled young people recently.

Career guidance and face to face individual or group discussions was organized by Lions Club of Kampala Central, the newly installed President of the club Lion Dan Naturinda reported to the Governor’s Blog. The National Library of Uganda was also involved in this literacy campaign.

The President said that twenty Lions and Leos participated in the literacy project and donated text books, pens, pencils and drawing crayons to 50 young disabled boys and girls at the Salvation Army camp. The Reading Action Programme was echoed by Immediate Past International President Wayne A Madden who described in his message about “A Book as the World’s Most Powerful Tool.”

He also had explained that literacy gives us the tools to take our place in society as informed and active citizens. 

The Region Chairman for Region “D” in Uganda, Lion Geoffrey Mwesigwa said in his letter of congratulations to the club that they were doing a great work to the community and the country as well. He praised the efforts of the President of the club and all members in spreading the literacy campaign which was the main goal of the Lions Clubs International under the immediate past International President, Lion Wayne Madden.

CAMPAIGN AGAINST INTOXICANTS

About ninety school teachers will be trained in the Lions Quest workshop to be held at three different locations in Tanzania during the last two weeks of August. The objective of the workshop is to implement the campaign to discourage young people from falling into bad habits involving liquor, drugs, bangi and the like.

The workshop will be handled by two experts professional teachers (both Lion Members) under the watchful eyes of PDG/PMCC Lion Abdul Majid Khan. The overall boss of Lions Quest in Tanzania is PDG Khan.

The three days seminar will be held in Lake Zone namely Musoma 20-22nd August, Mwanza 23-25th August and Shinyanga 26-28th August. Thirty teachers will attend each seminar and will be awarded attendance certificate after fulfilling certain criteria.

In Mwanza, District officer for Lions Quest Programme is Lion veteran Kiran Mody and the Region Chairman handling the preparations of the programme is Lion Jagdish Mehta.

Lions Quest Programme is an international campaign to discourage misuse of harmful drugs and intoxicants. It has been operational  for the past twenty fives years.

Recently, three workshops were held in Zanzibar, Dodoma and Morogoro.

PRAYERS FOR 2ND V.D.G. HYDERALI GANGJI

Fifty  three years old Vice District Governor Lion Hyderali Gangji who is now admitted in a hospital in Mumbai, India, is being assessed for his medical problems. Lions in Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya have shown sincere concern and have offered their prayers through letters, email and messages.

In Dar es Salaam, a religious congregation was held at Shahi Darbar Restaurant where get-well  Islamic Prayers were offered and joint 'Maghrib' or evening prayers were conducted. Some followers of Hindu Religion also took the opportunity to offer prayers.

District Governor Lion Wilson Ndesanjo spoke about his deputy who was undergoing medical assessment by a group of specialist doctors in Mumbai. In a written message, he said, "I am touched by your love, concern and decision to organize prayers for 2nd Vice District Governor Lion Hyderali Gangji."

The religious prayers were organized by Proprietor of Shahi Darbar Restaurant, Lion Shakil Ansari who is also President of L.C. of Dar es Salaam Central, Zone Chairperson Lion M. Bakari, District Officer Lion Zahira Patwa and others. Lion Bakari in his capacity as Z.C. also spoke about the sick Vice District Governor and thanked all for turning up for prayers.

Prayers were also held for well-being of Madame Bilkis Bano, mother of Zahira Patwa and Nafisa Suleimanji wife of Lion Salim Suleimanji (Blogger of this Blog) who are also under medical treatment in India. Lion Suleimanji could not attend the prayers meeting as he was on his way, with his spouse, to India.

Among the prominent people who sent "get well" letters and messages included PDG Lion Abdul Majid Khan, GLT Coordinator/PDG/IPMCC  Lion Murtaza Dungarwalla, Pharma, RC Yusuf Dalal, RC Geofrey Mwesigwa, Blogger Lion Valeria Mwesigwa, Lion Pushpa Shah President Pwani, PCS Inderjit Singh Rehal, PCS Lion Manish Chawda, PCS Salome Luwaga, PP Shanti Shah, President of L.C. City Hon. Azim Premji. The list of sympathizers continue to grow and it seems that it will not be possible to name each and every Lion or Members of the public in this Blog.

The Bloggers of this Blog Lion Salim Suleimanji, Lion Valeria Mwesigwa and writer of this story wish to convey their sincere feelings and offer prayers for the Vice District Governor.

FIRST CABINET MEETING: KAMPALA

The first Cabinet Meeting of District 411B which will gauge the performance of forty Lions Clubs over the past two months since July 1st, will be held on 7th September in Kampala.

Cabinet Secretary Lion Kishore Simzia who returned to Dar es Salaam two days ago from his overseas trip, confirmed that the Cabinet Meeting will be chaired by District Governor Lion Wilson Ndesanjo.

Among the many items to be discussed, club performance over the past sixty days will be presented to the Governor but,  the main District Programme this year known as MERLO, the Governor's vision  will also be on the table. In long for the abbreviation MERLO means,  Membership growth, Extension, Retention, Leadership and Orientation.

During the acceptance speech of the Governor when he was elected as the District Governor for Sub District 411B, he pronounced loudly and clearly that his district programme will focus on two points: * To increase membership/retention; * Caring for community service.

The exhaustive list of District Goals 2013/2014 has been exemplified in the Governor's Handbook which is in the hands of the printer in Dar es Salaam.

The prelude to the Cabinet Meeting is an important chapter on the meetings of District Governor's Advisory meeting or in other words, Zonal Meetings to be chaired by Zone Chairpersons in their respective zones. The comprehensive reports will then find its way to the Cabinet Meeting for further observations and appropriate actions.
