 EYE AND DENTAL CAMPS IN KILIMANJARO REGION: THE PROJECT WHICH WAS HAILED BY DISTRICT GOVERNOR LION HAYDERALI GANGJI FROM HAWAII.
 

The eye and dental screening camps in progress at Bomangombe, a suburb within the Moshi township area. 176 patients were screened.

The newly installed District Governor Lion Hayderali Gangji has congratulated the entire team conducting the "See & Smile" eye and dental camp in Kilimanjaro Region. He sent the congratulatory message from Honolulu, Hawaii where thousands of high status Lions gathered at the Lions Clubs International Convention.

The Governor said: "Well done activity for the Centennial Service Challenge Goals". This appeared to be the immediate reaction and answer to the successive letters of information sent to the Governor by the President of Lions Club Moshi Kibo, Lion Inderjit S. Rehal. The ten-days project in three districts of Kilimanjaro Region, has targeted 3000 eye check-up and 100 eyes surgeries being done by volunteers from Belgium.

About 176 patients were screened in the suburb of Moshi, Bomangombe. The patients included twenty five small children classified as "Albinos" due to the obvious skin pigmentation disorders. They were given a special preference and arrangements were being made to procure special looking spectacles to protect their sensitive eyes from ultra violet sun rays.

According to the daily reports which are also highlighted in the local visual and print medias, sixty two surgeries have been carried out by the professional Eye Specialist doctors from Belgium. They expect to hit the target of 100 surgeries in the ten days of eyes and dental camps.

Hawaii: The new International President for Lions Clubs International for the year 2015/2016 is Dr. Jitsuhiro Yamada from Japan. He takes over from Joe Preston who is now Immediate Past International President after having spearheaded the LCI, the world's largest service organization.

International President of Lions Clubs International Dr. Jitsuhiro Yamada with the authoritative gavel in his right hand being acclaimed as the new International President to spearhead almost 1.4 million Lions throughout the world during the Lionistic Year 2015-2016.

LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION, HONOLULU

The hectic three-days convention of annual  Lions Clubs International was well in progress at Honolulu in Hawaii. We have received some pictures recently and we reproduce hereby for our readers.

District Governor Elect for Sub District 411B Lion Hyderali Gangji who was one of the hundreds of Governors Elect who attended an intensive seminar in readiness for their one-year tenure in office as Governors. Lion Hyderali is seen receiving an attendance certificate.

The next annual convention of Lions Club International will be held at Fukuoka in Japan as the poster says. The next International President after Joe Preston is Dr. Jitsuhiro Yamada.

The Group 22, one of the many groups of Governors Elect who attended leadership training in preparations for taking up the heavy responsibility of Governorship. Seated in the front row on extreme right is D.G. Elect Lion Hyderali Gangji from Sub District 411B (Tanzania-Uganda) among other governors.

"SEE & SMILE CAMPS" IN MOSHI

Moshi, Tanzania: The eye and dental camps being held in Moshi, Kilimanjaro Region was reported to be progressing well having recorded attendance and treatment of 611 eye patients and 175 dental patients.

The President of the host club (L.C. Moshi Kibo) Lion Inderjit Singh Rehal sent a message from Moshi that 30 surgeries were performed by the volunteer doctors from Belgium. A large team of doctors, optometrists and officials from the See & Smile NGO from Belgium are here in Tanzania to perform free treatment under the auspices of the Lions club.

Doctors and nurses of Mawenzi Regional Hospital are also involved in the week long eye and dental camps which are being conducted in three districts of Kilimanjaro Region.

Doctors from "See & Smile" NGO from Belgium working under the auspices of Lions Club of Moshi Kibo as partners in the free eyes and dental camps in Kilimanjaro region. A team of twenty doctors and optometrists are providing free voluntary service for seven days in the  three districts of Kilimanjaro Region.

Eye check-up being conducted by doctor and optometrist at Moshi. A total of 611 patients are reported to have registered for free check-up and treatment at the end of 2nd day. On the left in red jacket is one of the volunteer from Lions Club of Moshi Kibo.

Preparatory session just before the take-off of the free "see & smile" camps now being held in Kilimanjaro Region in Tanzania. The volunteers have come from Belgium for a free service including provision of free medicines and reading glasses. Thirty surgeries were reported to have been performed by doctors.
