LIONS ASSIST FLOOD VICTIMS

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: A large contingent of Lion Members from seven clubs joined hands in distributing essential food stuffs to almost 650 families who were adversely affected by the recent heavy rains in Dar es Salaam.

Sixty Lions led by District Governor Lion Wilson Ndesanjo, 1st Vice District Governor Elect Lion Hyderali Gangji and top District and Cabinet Officers and club leaders formed as a team to conduct the humanitarian job at Magomeni area within Dar es Salaam. The distribution point was at the Green Acres School compound.

The Lions Clubs International Fund, donated US$10,000:00 or close to TShs. 16,500,000/= for purchase of basic and essential stuff like sugar, cooking oil, maize flour, rice, laundry and bathing soap and clean mineral water. All the stuff were distributed by district and club leaders to the head of the families. A couple of months ago, LCIF had also donated a similar amount to the flood victims of Kilosa which was devastated with a great damage to the houses of local inhabitants and their farms, roads and bridges and overhead electrical cables.

Most of the Lion Members, clearly visible in their yellow vest coats, looked well occupied in distributing sacks and boxes of dry food and cooking oil. Some top brass District Leaders took turn in handing over the food stuff to the head of the families.
