DR. MANOJ SHAH AS INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT ENDORSEE

AN UNPRECIDENTED RECORD OF ACHIEVEMENT!
LION DR. MANOJ SHAH STATUS GOES HIGHER AND HIGHER
MULTIPLE COUNCIL CHAIRPERSON LION WILSON NDESANJO DESCRIBES IT AS “HONOUR TO AFRICA”.

Story by Abdul Hai

Lion Dr. Manoj Shah has set an unprecedented record of achievement not only in Eastern Africa but on the African Continent after the declaration of his latest status as INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT ENDORSEE. Therefore he becomes a “ Board Appointee 2015/2016”, an official declaration announced by International President Dr. Jitsuhiro Yamada.

In the caliber of Dr. Manoj Shah, Africa is well represented as the “Ambassador” in the top level organs of the  nearly one-hundred-years old Lions Clubs International with a world-wide membership of approximately 1,400,000. Lion Members not only in Africa but elsewhere, have received this news with jubilation and an achievement worth being proud of.

Multiple Council Chairperson Lion Wilson Ndesanjo  described it as a “great honour to Africa and particularly our Multiple District 411 which is composed of  Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Seychelles and South Sudan”.  In his letter of congratulations addressed directly to Dr. Manoj Shah, partly reads: “ What a great honour to Africa and our own MD 411. Your appointment signifies your commitment, zeal and exceptional high level of integrity that we are all proud of.”

It further states: “We look forward to celebrate in a befitting occasion on your return.”

On every “Lions Function”, be it an international event or in sports arena or during installation meetings or regular club meetings, he knows his attire to suit the situation. One thing which is always with him is his broad smile and the charismatic attitude radiating “let us serve together”.  He believes less in reading speeches (my opinion) but his impromptu speeches will glue one to his chair.

Talking about his characteristic smile, when he was District Governor of 411, his catchword was to do with “smile” . And as an Author of two editions of Smiley Lions Handbook, it has gone a long way in educating Leos, Lions, their family members and non-Lions. His attitude towards Lionism has influenced his “smiling wife Jayna”  to have served as Cabinet Secretary in the Sub District 411B.

Ten years ago Dr. Manoj Shah of Nairobi, Kenya, was elected to a two-year term as International Director at the 88th Annual Lions Convention in Hong Kong in 2005. His zeal as a committed LION, earned him a national and international reputation. His pivotal role as a Lion Leader , has helped to create Lions Service Centre with the Lions Renal Unit, Lions Dental Centre and the Lions Hearing Centre.

He is actively involved as a Steering Chairman for membership development and growth in Africa. Once a target of 30,000 Lion Members is recorded on the continent, it will stand on itself to recognize the need and service to Africa in coordination with Lions Clubs International.

Lion Dr. Manoj Shah is a respectable businessman in Kenya and beyond the country’s  boarder.  He deals with interests in automobile, property and finance sector.

He has been an active Lion of his club Greater Nairobi L.C. for the past thirty years. His attitude towards Lionism has taken him to serve in many leadership positions, just like ladder steps, one after the other. He is playing a significant role in the Governor’s Council of  the six-country MD 411. He has served in the faculty of Six Emerging Lions Leadership  Institute.

In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards, including seven International President’s Certificates of Appreciation, three International President’s Leadership Medals, a 100% District Governor’s Award and three International President’s Medals. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lion activities, Past Director Shah is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He is currently the honorary secretary of the M.P. Shah Hospital, vice chairperson of the A.A. Road Safety Council, a board member of the Automobile Association of Kenya, chairperson of A.A. Insurance brokers and an active member of the Visa Oshwal Community. He previously served as president of the Kenya Motor Sports Club, secretary of the O.R.C. Organization and director of Safari Rally Ltd.

Past Director Shah and his wife, Jayna, also a member of the Nairobi Greater Lions Club and a Melvin Jones Fellow, have two children.
