"BABIES, WELCOME BACK HOME"!

DAR ES SALAAM: The four babies who were successfully treated for heart diseases in India, returned to Dar es Salaam and were received at the Julius Nyerere International Airport  by L.C. Host President Nureen Nathoo and PDG/PMCC Lion Abdul Majid Khan. Not in the picture Governor Lion Willy Ndesanjo and other Lions who were also at the airport.  
Dar es Salaam: In all sixteen small children and their parents were sent to India for various heart diseases procedures under the sponsorship of Lions Club of Dar es Salaam Host at a total expenditure of US$ 80,000 or close to TShs. 128,000,000/=. It was reported that all the children arrived safely after successful medical treatment in India with close cooperation of Regency |medical Centre.

The batch were sent on 11th July and 12 of them arrived earlier after treatment and the second batch of the remaining four,  arrived later as seen in the photograph.

The Lions Club of Dar es Salaam Host has been conducting the "Heart Treatment Project" year in year out and has considered this as the club's long term project. The Convenor of the project is Dr. Rajni Kanabar who officially handles the portfolio of "Open Heart Surgery, Heart Awareness & Hospital Project" in District 411B. The others in his commitee are Lion Dr. Timothy Muwonge (Uganda) and Lion Navraj Bhamra (Tanzania).

According to the recent report sent by  the club's Secretary Lion Mohamed Lalji, the club organized an Orthopaedic and Joint Replacement camp in Dar es Salaam recently. Two specialists from India who were surgeons on spine  and another one on hips and knee replacement screened 320 people free of any charges. They checked the patients and were given medical advice of future management of their health problems.
