"THE BAKARI ROAD ACCIDENT"!

DAR ES SALAAM: The near fatal road accident which involved Zone Chairman Lion Moiz Bakari Omari was a miracle for him to come out "almost unhurt and clean". The driver of the other car which caused double accident at one time, was admitted into Muhimbili Central Hospital with serious multiple injuries.

Lion Bakari narrated to me about the dreadful mid-night road accident that it was like a night mare happening in a split second. The speeding car of Suzuki make banged one car and skidded and rammed on to Bakari's car. It was almost a face-to-face collision and the huge impact inflated the safety-bag immediately, thus protected him from serious injuries. "I lost consciousness for sometime but realized that people were pulling me out of my car's window. It is then I recalled that something drastic had happened," he told me.

The road accident was reported at the Selander Bridge Police Station and later he and the other car's driver were admitted into Muhimbili Hospital. After several tests and examinations, he was discharged with an advice for "complete bed rest".

The Zone Chairman was returning to his Upanga house after attending the preparatory meeting of the forthcoming Governor's Banquet at Shahi Darbar, along Chole road in Dar es Salaam.

Close relatives, friends and neighbours, Lion Members, many telephone calls and messages are a constant events since the dreadful accident happened last Friday. Lion Bakari in his mid fifties is married and have two daughters and two sons. The eldest daughter Mwanahija Bakari is a Medical Doctor by profession and works for Hubert Kariuki's Memorial Hospital in the city.

He is a businessman and specialized in the cooling system (heat transfer technology) after acquiring practical knowledge in Mombasa and Nairobi in Kenya.

With a light touch, Lion Mozi Bakari's residence is sandwiched between the open Memorial War Cemetery on one side and the famous Aga Khan Hospital on the other side and on the adjacent side is the busy-by-night casino.
