LIONS QUEST STEERING COMMITTEE

DAR ES SALAAM: The Steering Committee of Lions Quest Programme in Tanzania held its meeting in Dar es Salaam under the Chairmanship of PDG/PMCC and Coordinator of LQP Lion Abdul Majid Khan to discuss achievement and discuss action programme.

One of the major action programme is to hold two workshops for primary and secondary school teachers in Dodoma, capital of Tanzania and the coastal town of Tanga. Both the workshops have been programmed to accomodate thirty teachers. A workshop in Dodoma was held recently but there was demand for holding a second workshop for teachers who missed the opportunity to attend.

The Steering Committee also resolved to send (upon request by clubs)  the two LQ Trainers Lion Alex Mathew and Christopher Chinyala to brief club members about Lions Quest Programme in Tanzania. The following objectives were also highlighted:

* Apart from 150 teachers trained, we anticipate to train 350 teachers more from 175 schools.

* To expand Lions Quest Programme in the interior regions of Tanzania.

* To help Lions Quest Programme reach out to 140,000 young adolescents and this will help to bring up positive behavior change in their lives.

* To ensure that Lions Quest Programme is an on-going programme in the educational system in Tanzania.

The trainers and club leaders will conduct the follow up programme on the schools that will participate in the workshops.

The pool-side meeting of the LQP Steering Committee in session held on Sunday 3rd November held at the Highland Villa. The chairman and coordinator PDG/PMCC Lion Abdul Majid Khan seated second from right, Convenor Lion Mohammed Mulla extreme right and Secretary of LQP Lion Abdul Hai third from right. 2nd Vice District Governor Lion Haiderali Gangji third from left provides social facilities like The Gym, shopping facilities and beauty saloon for more than hundred families at the estate. Lions Club meetings and parties will also be held at the venue.
The Steering Committee also resolved to conduct more workshops in 13 other regions of Tanzania during 2014-2015.
"The prevailing social scenario exposes a child to greater risk of drug abuse and violence, the habit of smoking, tobacco chewing and drinking alcohol is also increasing drastically among young children," Coordinator of the LQP in Tanzania Lion Abdul Majid Khan told the meeting of Steering Committee.
