Dar es Salaam Tanzania: A one-day Leadership Training for old and new Lion Members from Uganda and Tanzania was held in Dar es Salaam at the Tiffany Diamond Hotel in Dar es Salaam. It was officially opened by the visiting International Director Lion Alexis Vincent Gomes who also distributed Certificate of Attendance to all the participants.
Welcome address was delivered by District Governor Lion Wilson N. Ndesanjo and also Region Chairman Lion Happiness Nkya.
The three main Speakers at the seminar were Lion Inderjit S. Rehal, Lion Eng. Rizwan Qadri and Lion Zahira Pattwa who took almost one hour each to dwell on their subjects and
Closing the seminar, ID Lion Gomes observed that Lions in Tanzania and Uganda were doing a good job to assist people in distress in the name of humanity and as such it was, he said, befitting to erect a monument and engrave names of long serving Lions. He said such a monument should first be discussed with the Municipal Authority and upon an agreement, should be erected somewhere in the city centre.
He also said that he was very happy to see that the Lions Organization brought in a multi-racial society in Africa and as such we should think in terms of unity in Africa. He further elaborated that this can be done when we increase the number of members in Africa to reach a figure of 30,000. That numerical number or even more would qualify Africa to be recognized as Constitutional Area with a great number of advantage in running the Lionism in Africa.
