GOVERNOR VISITS OWN CLUB

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: After being an active member of Lions Club of Dar es Salaam city for almost thirteen years, Lion Wilson N. Ndesanjo visited his own club this time as District Governor and his Spouse Lion Florense Ndesanjo as the First Lady of the district.

Both the couple were received with a befitting reception on Sunday at the farm house  of PDG/PMCC Lion Abdul Majid Khan, approximate thirty kms away from the hustle and bustle of the commercial capital of Dar es Salaam. They spent the hectic eight-hours from the morning hours to nearly evening hours when the District Governor had to make a quick rush to the Julius Nyerere International Airport for a trip to Kilimanjaro.

The day started with tree planting and food distribution to the students of special school for deaf and dumb at Buguruni, in the city centre. The President of the club Lion Azim Premji, former Member of Parliament for Kigoma, and other senior Lions participated in the project. Later, the entourage drove to the farm house at Kinyamwezi where a warm welcome awaited the dignitaries.

Upon arrival at the Buyuni Secondary School, two senior scouts donned the Governor with a Scout Scarf, a purple coloured neck scarf bordered on one side with the green, yellow, black and blue strips of colour representing the National Flag of Tanzania. The scouts headed the entourage to the main library of the school where a short ceremony of handing over of school books, library shelves was carried out by the Governor.

Later ten fruit trees of mango and orange were planted by the Governor, First Lady, Region Chairman Lion Happiness Nkya and the president of the club. At the school there were well grown huge trees which were planted many years ago by high level Lions of the sub district and the club. Lion Abdul Majid Khan has repeated another four years term as Chairman of the School Board which overseas the administration work of the school.

Joint Project: An out of agenda joint project of donations of school laboratory equipments worth TShs. 500,000/= was carried out by Lions Club of Amani and the L.C. of City. This was a typical "Unity in Service" interpretation of the Governor's theme.
