Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: Lions Club of Dar es Salaam Mzizima conducted the activity of World Service Day by providing lunch and donated medical bills for the patients at the Ocean Road Cancer Hospital.
The club has taken up this activity as a long term project and all members and volunteers gather at the hospital on every first Friday of the month to serve the patients. The club incurred a total expense of TShs. 560,000/=.
The club secretary Lion Bhavini Sonigra stated in his report that three patients Esther Tumbe, Habiba Swalehe and Sijaba Kondo were each given TShs. 75,000/= for covering their medical bills at the hospital. The Ocean Road Cancer Hospital is the country's largest hospital for cancer disease.
The activity was also attgended by the Region Chairman Lion Happiness Nkya and Zone Chairman Lion Dr. Hussain Hassan.
Cabinet Secretary Lion Kishore Simzia has congratulated all the clubs for conducting services during the World Service Day during the month of October. The month of October is specially dedicated by more than 1.3 million active Lions throughout the world as World Service Day.
