THE DISFIGURED FACE....IMPROVING

ARUSHA, TANZANIA: The saying goes this way: "From frying pan into the fire" or better stated from one problem to the other! This is precisely what happened to the young boy Justin whose face was totally disfigured beyond recognition due to fire incident.

Justin was born with a natural biological defect -epilepsy- defined in simple language as disorder of the nervous system marked by convulsions and loss of consciousness. The unfortunate accident or incident occurred in Morogoro at his home in the kitchen. It is said that while in the kitchen, he suddenly got fit of epilepsy and fell face ward directly on the fire.

He was treated at the hospital in Morogoro for severe fire burns on face and some parts of his body. His face was totally disfigured, beyond recognition of the original face.

The young boy is now at Plaster House in Arusha where young people after surgical operation recuperate under well organized management. The Plaster House is part of the most popular Selian Hospital and is located at a place called Ngaremtoni.

Justin has undergone a couple of plastic surgery performed by experts and what appears to be  a great improvement according to information received. More plastic surgeries have been planned by Plastic Surgeons at the hospital.

Lions Club Century Arusha which comprises young and enthusiastic Lions, have worked hard in collecting donations from here-and-there and managed to raise a variety of food stuff costing TShs. 780,000/= or roughly estimated at the current exchange rate US$ 500.00. The team, led by Past Cabinet Secretary and Convenor of LEO Clubs in Tanzania & Uganda, Lion Manish Shah visited the Plaster House and spent some hours to distribute the food stuff.

Lion Manish Chawda thanked all the club members and those who donated cash or material for the good cause. He added that the club plans to hold an Eye Camp on 14th October in Arusha  as part of their activities to observe the World Sight Day.
